Richard Waterfield serves as chairman and CEO of Waterfield Financial and oversees a company that maintains private equity funds and has a long-term focus through family offices in areas such as technology, agriculture, insurance, and real estate. Mr. Waterfield attended the Culver Military Academy as a youth and presently serves as board chairman of Culver Summer Schools & Camps. He earned his BA in economics at Columbia University and was active with the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. He competed on the school’s fencing and rugby teams, and was active in student government. Beginning his career while an undergraduate as bank stock analyst with Prudential Securities, Mr. Waterfield received mentorship from established industry veterans.
Joining Goldman Sachs in 1994, Richard Waterfield worked in institutional sales and ultimately took the reins as CEO senior portfolio manager for a high-profile hedge fund seeded by one of the firm’s senior limited partners. He also served as CEO of a bank holding company that owned and operated a pair of pioneering Internet banks, as well as 14 affinity banking centers for major clients such as the United States Air Force Association and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
